Channel Farm is the better choice for a faceless channel that wants a complete 10 to 20 minute narrated video made from a topic, with every scene drawn as original AI art in one fixed style. Pictory is the better choice if you already have text (scripts, blog posts, articles) and want it turned into a stock-footage video quickly, or if you need to cut long recordings into clips. Pictory is cheaper and has a free trial; Channel Farm produces a channel look that stock footage cannot.

What is the difference between Channel Farm and Pictory? #
Pictory is a text-to-video tool: it takes a script, article or URL, splits it into scenes, and matches each scene with stock footage or, with AI credits, a generated image. Channel Farm is a topic-to-video pipeline for faceless YouTube: it writes the script, draws one AI image per scene in your channel's style, narrates it, captions it, renders it, and makes the thumbnail and title.
Pictory describes its scene step as an AI engine that "automatically selects the best images and video footage representing the summary sentences" from a library of over 3 million royalty-free visuals, which you can swap with one click or replace with your own assets (Pictory script to video). It also offers generative visuals, paid for with a separate AI credit balance that sits on top of your video minutes (Pictory pricing).
Channel Farm has no stock library at all. Every scene is generated in the style locked to the brand profile (70 or more styles), which is what makes 50 videos on the same channel look like one channel. The cost of that is real footage: if your niche needs actual video of actual places or products, Pictory's library is the right tool and Channel Farm is not.

How much does Pictory cost for a faceless channel, and how much does Channel Farm cost? #
Pictory's pricing page lists three monthly plans: Starter at $29 for 200 video minutes, 100 AI credits and 60 minutes of ElevenLabs voice; Professional at $59 for 600 video minutes, 500 AI credits, 120 ElevenLabs minutes and 5 brand kits; and Team at $199 for 1,800 video minutes, 2,400 AI credits and 10 brand kits. Paid plans have no watermark. Video minutes are deducted on the first download of each project only, and previews do not count (Pictory video-minute pricing).
Those are generous minute counts for the money. The number to watch is AI credits: 100 a month on Starter is a small budget if you want generated images instead of stock in every scene of a ten-minute video, and the 60-minute ElevenLabs allowance covers six ten-minute narrations before you fall back to the standard voices.
Channel Farm starts at $49 a month for 300 credits, about six ten-minute videos, with videos capped at 10 minutes; Starter is $99 (750 credits, 15-minute cap), Developmental $249 (2,000 credits, 20-minute cap) and Professional $699 (6,000 credits, 20-minute cap). Every video gets an ElevenLabs voice, original AI art in every scene, captions, a thumbnail and metadata, with no separate credit pools to track. There is no free trial, which is the honest downside: you cannot test it for free the way you can test Pictory. Real example videos are the substitute.
Which tool makes the better long-form video? #
For a story-led faceless channel, Channel Farm makes the better video because its scenes are drawn for the script rather than found for it. For a blog-to-video or summary channel, Pictory makes a perfectly good video faster and cheaper.
The difference shows up around minute four. Stock footage libraries have a lot of clips of "city at night" and "person thinking" and not many of "a Byzantine tax collector counting coins in 536 AD". A narrated history, mythology, true crime or philosophy script asks for the second kind of scene forty times in a row, and the library starts repeating. Pictory does let you generate a visual instead, but each one draws on the AI credit balance, and the generated images are not held to one style across the video.
Channel Farm draws every one of those scenes in the same style, keeps a recurring character looking like the same person, and holds recurring locations steady. Our guide on keeping characters consistent across long-form AI videos explains why that matters for a channel rather than a single upload. The AI story video generator page shows the kind of output this produces.
Which is faster and less work per video? #
Both are fast; they save time at different steps. Pictory is fastest when the text already exists: paste, review the scene matches, download. Channel Farm is fastest when the text does not exist yet: give it a topic and a length and the script, scenes, narration, captions, thumbnail and title arrive together.
On a weekly schedule the difference is where your attention goes. With Pictory you spend it on the visuals: checking that the matched clip fits the sentence, swapping the ones that do not, and deciding where to spend AI credits. With Channel Farm you spend it on the script (which you can edit before rendering) and on the occasional scene you want to regenerate in the editor. Neither tool uploads to YouTube for you; you download the file and post it yourself.
What does Pictory do better than Channel Farm? #
- Price and trial. Starter is $29 a month against $49, and there is a free trial (Pictory pricing). Channel Farm has no free tier.
- Real footage. Over 3 million licensed clips and images, and the option to use your own footage throughout, not just per scene (Pictory).
- Repurposing. Turning an article, a blog post or a long recording into a video or into clips is Pictory's home ground; Channel Farm only makes new narrated videos from a topic or script.
- Very long output. Pictory's AI Video Editor allows up to 3 hours on Professional and Team (Pictory FAQ); Channel Farm stops at 20 minutes.
- Voice range. Pictory quotes ElevenLabs voices in 29 languages (Pictory pricing) against Channel Farm's 20.
Channel Farm does better at: original scenes that fit the script instead of approximating it, one consistent look and cast across the whole channel, a thumbnail generated from the video's own frames, and a single price per minute with nothing extra to meter. If your channel is narrated, evergreen and story-led, those are the things that decide it. The faceless video maker page lists exactly what each video includes.
Which should you pick? #
Pick Pictory if you turn existing text into video, need real footage, want the lowest monthly price, or want to try before you pay. Pick Channel Farm if you want the tool to write and illustrate the video from a topic, your niche is story-led, and a consistent illustrated style is the point of the channel.
Whichever you choose, the YouTube side is unchanged. The Partner Program threshold is 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 qualified public watch hours in 12 months, or 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days (YouTube Help), and long-form watch hours are what a narrated faceless channel is built to earn. AI-made video is allowed; tick the altered or synthetic content disclosure where it applies. Our guide to starting a faceless channel covers the rest of the setup.
